A poll today revealed that nearly two thirds of the public would support raising National Insurance contributions to help tackle the social care crisis.
The exclusive Ipsos MORI survey for the Evening Standard showed 64 per cent of adults in Britain support a one percentage point rise to fund better provision for the elderly.
Gideon Skinner, head of political research at Ipsos MORI, said: “Even though it might have been dampened by the pandemic, there is still appetite amongst Britons for more spending on public services.”
