Today's best bets, by Tony Paley
The weather is set to take a significant change for the worse with plenty of rain forecast for Warwick. With desperate conditions likely to prevail there the focus switches to Wolverhampton where Perennial (8.10) catches the eye. He had much better form last season than he has shown so far this campaign but has switched to David O'Meara and last time, on his second start for the trainer, he showed definite signs of improvement.
Tipping competition, day four
Our winners so far:
Monday
Camerooney 22-1
Sporting Boy 15-2
Compton Prince 33-1
Tuesday
Pantxoa 6-1
Deliberation 6-1
Hedge End 5-1
Wednesday
Nabucco 7-4
Saigon City 5-1
Magic Secret 14-1
And our leader is:
melonk +19
. . . who had Magic Secret, following a nice Tuesday double with Pantxoa and Hedge End. Muchomachoman, I'm afraid you couldn't be credited with Magic Secret, since you also chose Mister Musicmaster, who ran in the same race (naughty).
Today, we'd like your selections, please, for these races: 5.10 Warwick, 5.45 Warwick, 6.10 Wolverhampton.
This week's prize is a copy of Refusal, by Felix Francis, featuring the return to action of Sid Halley, who first appeared in a Dick Francis book almost 50 years ago. In his latest outing, he is tasked with investigating some suspicious results by the chairman of the BHA, who comes to a sticky end the next day . . . If you don't win, buy a copy here.
As ever, our champion will be the tipster who returns the best profit to notional level stakes of £1 at starting price on our nominated races, of which there will be three each day up until Friday. Non-runners count as losers.
If you have not already joined in this week, you can do so today, but you will start on -9.
In the event of a tie at the end of the week, the winner will be the tipster who, from among those tied on the highest score, posted their tips earliest on the final day.
