11.45am Wednesday’s best bets, by Greg Wood
National Hunt fans avoided a blank day when Carlisle’s meeting this afternoon got the go ahead without the need for the planned 8am inspection, as the area was dry overnight and that is forecast to continue today.
This is one of the most demanding tracks in the country at the best of times, but Moscow Me (3.30) should get further than today’s two-mile trip and still has plenty of scope for improvement after just three starts over fences. He is up another 5lb after a success off 108 last time out, but was a ready winner there and it looks like a modest rise in the circumstances.
Kilbree Chief (4.05) is a big price for the three-runner novice chase, while Veinard (4.35) should make it to the winner’s enclosure after an unlucky second place last time out.
On the Fibresand at Southwell, Vivacissimo (1.40) can return to winning form after failing to build on victory at this course when switching back to Polytrack last time out. The front-running Fujin (1.10) can also make amends for a recent disappointment when he blew the start, while at Kempton, Princess Cookie (5.55) improved significantly for her debut to win on this surface at Chelmsford last month, and has a solid chance in the sprint handicap at around 4-1.

This week’s prize, offered by 32Red bookmakers, is a £25 ante-post bet on any race (for which betting is available) at this year’s Cheltenham Festival. You can see 32Red’s Cheltenham markets here.
As ever, our champion will be the tipster who returns the best profit to notional level stakes of £1 at starting price on our nominated races, of which there will be three each day up until Friday. Non-runners count as losers. If you have not joined in so far this week, you are welcome to do so today, but you will start on -6.
In the event of a tie at the end of the week, the winner will be the tipster who, from among those tied on the highest score, posted their tips earliest on the final day.
Good luck!
