Talking Horses: weather wipes out racing

The scope for today's Talking Horses has been severely curtailed by the fact that no horse racing will take place in Britain today, following the overnight rain. There seems to be a certain amount of chatter this morning about the extent of the storm being exaggerated but there was easily enough rain to waterlog bits of Bangor, Leicester and Redcar.

Such a pity, as I had a couple of sure things lined up. There is still racing at Galway and Naas for those of you who follow the game in Ireland.

Our weekly competition will now start on Tuesday (hopefully). At least Wolverhampton should be able to stage racing on the all-weather, though one has learned not to take even that for granted.

Congratulations to BearRides, who won last week's competition by picking Amulet (4-1), finishing on +31, while his nearest challenger was scandalous (+23). BearRides, we'll be in touch by email.
