Today’s best bets
The quality is middling at best, but there can be few complaints about the competitiveness of the Flat programme in Britain today, with just one odds-on favourite at the three meetings, and that in a seller at Lingfield which is easily overlooked.
The Windsor card is a challenge throughout, but Artsy (nap 2.20) could be the way to go in the six-furlong nursery. Roger Varian’s filly put up a career-best performance to win over this trip at Chelmsford last time out having been tried over further, and the style of her success suggested that it is not beyond her to overcome a 7lb rise in the weights.
Sacrament (1.50) may be the answer to an interesting maiden at the top of the card, while Memories Galore (3.55) may be able to rediscover winning form after a solid second place when chasing a hat-trick last time out. He remains fairly handicapped on the balance of his form, and acts with a little cut in the ground.
Royal Acquisition (3.30) beat a big field at Redcar on his first start for Ivan Furtado last month and has plenty of form on Polytrack which suggests he has every chance of following up at Lingfield today. Atwix (5.10) is another on the same card with a live chance on previous course-and-distance form, while Evacusafe Lady (8.40) is fairly handicapped at Wolverhampton tonight.
Tipping competition day two

Our Winners so far:
Monday
Harlequin Rock 12-1
Rufford 11-1
Shifting Star 8-1
This week’s prize is a copy of Strictly Classified, a new book by that recognised judge Marten Julian. It aims to offer “a unique insight into the workings of a horseman’s mind, notably in relation to their understanding of a racehorse’s psyche, emotions and character,” to which end Julian has interviewed many of the world’s top trainers. Those of you who buy the Racing Post may have read a fascinating extract last week. If you don’t win, you can buy a copy here.
Today, we’d like your selections, please, for these races: 2.20 Windsor, 2.40 Exeter and 3.00 Lingfield.
As ever, our champion will be the tipster who returns the best profit to notional level stakes of £1 at starting price on our nominated races, of which there will be three each day up until Friday. Non-runners count as losers.
You can join in today but you will start on -3.
In the event of a tie at the end of the week, the winner will be the tipster who, from among those tied on the highest score, posted their tips earliest on the final day.
