Talking Horses: Salisbury tips in our daily horse racing blog

Today's best bet, by Tony Paley

Tom Queally must be thankful James Doyle, who now has takes the rides on owner Khalid Abdullah's British runners, is suspended as it gives the jockey the chance to get the leg up on Joyeuse (3.45) again. The highly promising filly is much the most interesting runner on view on Thursday and it will be a major disappointment if she doesn't get back on the winning trail this afternoon at Salisbury.

The half-sister to Frankel stepped out in fine style on her racecourse debut when winning a maiden race at Lingfield in May and was far from disgraced when subsequently third in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot, running very well from a poor draw in a race that has worked out exceptionally well.

Tipping competition – day four

Yesterday's winners were:

Tinghir 3-1

Aegaeus 10-1

The two tipsters – Rivercity and TwoChainz – who managed to find 20-1 shot Slip Sliding Away the other day are still joint leaders on +£13.

Today's races are: 2.30 Haydock; 7.10 Kempton and 8.10 Kempton.

As ever, our champion will be the tipster who returns the best profit to notional level stakes of £1 at starting price on our nominated races, of which there will be three each day up until Friday. Non-runners count as losers.

If you have not already joined in this week, you can do so today but you will start on -8.

In the event of a tie at the end of the week, the winner will be the tipster who, from among those tied on the highest score, posted their tips earliest on the final day.
