Today's best bets, by Tony Paley
Plenty of rain around this morning and that has resulted in plenty of non-runners at Salisbury so check the final fields before having a bet. Figure Of Speech (4.30) has been running well in much more exalted company than he faces this afternoon and has proven form in the soft. Ryan Moore can pick up a winner at Nottingham where Vermont (4.10) should appreciate the drop in trip.

This week's prize is a copy of Refusal, by Felix Francis, featuring the return to action of Sid Halley, who first appeared in a Dick Francis book almost 50 years ago. In his latest outing, he is tasked with investigating some suspicious results by the chairman of the BHA, who comes to a sticky end the next day . . . If you don't win, buy a copy here.
As ever, our champion will be the tipster who returns the best profit to notional level stakes of £1 at starting price on our nominated races, of which there will be three each day up until Friday. Non-runners count as losers.
If you have not already joined in this week, you can do so today, but you will start on -6.
In the event of a tie at the end of the week, the winner will be the tipster who, from among those tied on the highest score, posted their tips earliest on the final day.
