Monday’s best bets, by Tony Paley
Christmas came far too early this year in some quarters but even a Grinch or a Scrooge would have to accept that some folk can start on 1 December with their advent calendar. By the time Christmas Eve rolls around most will have at least started the celebrations and, if you’ll pardon the awful link, be enjoying some Holiday Magic (5.20), the name of the horse who looks worthy of carrying punters’ cash on Monday afternoon.
The Godolphin runner has won a maiden and two handicaps at Kempton and the progressive campaigner has good prospects of completing a four-timer here given the fact that he has only gone up 6lb for his last-time-out success.
Tipping competition - a new week
Congratulations to goofs, who was something of a runaway train last week, finding an 11-2 winner on Friday to win the competition on a final score of +25.50.
This week, we’re offering a second chance to win a copy of the Racing Post Annual 2015, now in its fourth year and running to 208 colour pages packed with stories from this racing year and some of terrific photos of the greatest moments. Interviewees include Willie Mullins and Tony McCoy. If you don’t win, you can buy it here.
To kick things off, we’d like your selections, please, for these races: 2.40 Plumpton, 3.10 Plumpton, 4.35 Wolverhampton.
As ever, our champion will be the tipster who returns the best profit to notional level stakes of £1 at starting price on our nominated races, of which there will be three each day up until Friday. Non-runners count as losers.
In the event of a tie at the end of the week, the winner will be the tipster who, from among those tied on the highest score, posted their tips earliest on the final day.
