Our each-way wager on High Cotton at Hexham went west last week when the Keith Reveley-trained horse made a couple of horrendous blunders but the suggestion is to go back in win and place on Rapscallion (3.30pm Kempton) today.
This race revolves around top weight Mickmacmagoole who lookes very well in despite the burden of 12st 2lb on his back. He won comfortably four days ago at Exeter and is unlikely to be halted by a 7lb penalty but he has had a lot of racing in a short time and takes a huge chunk out of the market trading at around even money. Rapscallion was well supported prior to running an excellent second at Fakenham last week and his new connections obviously expected an improved performance that day. The form of that race should work out and he looks worth backing at 7-1 rather than taking the cramped odds about the favourite. Intriguingly there has been a big move for Rosenblatt in this race down to 9-1 from an opening quote of 33's. The yard are capable of landing a coup, but on known form this one has it all to do having put up three "desperate efforts" its most recent outings in the words of the Racing Post analyst today.
