12.30pm Ebor meeting washed out

The rest of York's Ebor meeting has been abandoned following a further inspection. The course remains unraceable and it is clear from the forecast that it will not be able to dry out sufficiently to stage racing by the weekend.

Talks are continuing with other tracks to see if the week's biggest races can be staged elsewhere over the next few days and I'll pass on any news as soon as we get it.

This afternoon's meeting at Hamilton is also off, so there will be no racing in Britain until this evening's meetings at Folkestone and Newton Abbot.

Portodora (6.55) looks the best bet on the Folkestone card, as the form of her Newmarket second behind Kalahari Gold could hardly have worked out better. The winner has since followed up successfully on a return to Newmarket and both the third and fourth from Portodora's race have also won next time. Henry Cecil's filly has a great chance running off the same handicap mark tonight.

The sprint handicap at Folkestone looks best left to Gentle Guru (7.55), who ran well in a better race at Sandown last week. Newton Abbot does not look a card for punting, though it is interesting that Timmy Murphy goes for one ride, OK Katie, in the bumper. She is a rare runner at his level for Flat trainer Ralph Beckett.
