Talking Horses

Trainer Ron Harris has a good record with cast-offs from other stables, and at Brighton today he has a likely sort in Billion Dollar Kid (4.00). Claimed by Harris after winning at Great Leighs, the three-year-old has been rated a lot higher than today's mark of 79 in the past. If his new trainer can rekindle some of Billion Dollar Kid's former sparkle, the colt could make short work of this opposition.

Over jumps, Tim Vaughan is a trainer making a name for himself, with many horses joining his yard showing much improved form. Crashtown Hall (2.50) has his first run for Vaughan at Worcester today and, although Richard Johnson rides the stable's other one, Canndar, Crashtown Hall looks interesting in a race where the favourite, Distiller, could be vulnerable at the trip.

With the soft ground right up his street Raimond Ridge (7.35) can make the most of a handy mark in the nursery at Haydock tonight. Rested since finishing sore on faster ground at Hamilton last time, Mick Channon's gelding is well in on the form he showed when finishing a close second to Saxford at Newcastle.
