With the ground riding really testing at Kelso, Bywell Beau will be the focus of attention in the day's featured handicap hurdle. He was at his best in these conditions here last season, when he hammered Mohayer by 23 lengths on one occasion. It just remains to be seen if he is in the same sort of form after a go at chasing. Off bottom weight, the each-way value could be Solitary Palm (1.40). He is also proven in the ground and looked to be running into form when fifth behind Augustine here last month.
Seven-times course winner Almaty Express (1.00) will be hard to beat in the sprint handicap at Wolverhampton. He won back-to-back races here at this time last year once he hit form, and he is on a good mark despite being penalised for his latest success.
I put up Breaker Morant (2.00) when Irish trainer James Burns brought him over to Wolverhampton before Christmas, but the five-year-old was caught out by an over-eager ride from his apprentice jockey. With Fran Berry on board this time, Breaker Morant is well worth another chance.
