Two National Hunt meetings and a Flat card at Wolverhampton to choose from this Monday and for now the jumpers can wait as there is a great deal to recommend Restaurateur (nap 4.00) on the all-weather. Andrew Balding's colt has so much in his favour in terms of recent course-and-distance form and scope for further improvement that overnight quotes of 3-1 look surprisingly generous given that he has yet to finish outside the first two in four starts on Polytrack.

The time of his recent win was solid, the form has been backed up by a couple of the also-rans, and he just looks more like a 7-4 chance than the price on offer.

Light Burst (3.30) and Formal Bid (5.00) are also worth a second look at Wolverhampton and Kaylif Aramis (next best 3.40) should find plenty of improvement from his eye-catching run at Bangor last time, which was his first start since April 2011. Qoubilai (2.20) showed enough at Taunton last time to suggest that he has a solid chance in the handicap chase at Plumpton.

Tipping competition – a new week

Congratulations to 72luca, who picked Uncle Junior (9-2) to go past xwireman on Friday and win last week's competition. Carl31 and SmokingGun1 had that winner and also Buck Magic (7-1) but had too much ground to make up.

This week's prize is a copy of Frankel: The Wonder Horse, the Racing Post's newly released and complete illustrated story of the world's greatest racehorse, using photographs and reports from the paper's archives. If you don't win, you can buy a copy here.

For the second week, we're trialling a potential new format with just two races each day, except this time we'll have three races on Friday. Do please use the comments to let us know which format you prefer.

To kick things off, we'd like your tips, please, for these races: 2.40 Leicester, 2.50 Plumpton.

As ever, our champion will be the tipster who returns the best profit to notional level stakes of £1 at starting price on our nominated races, of which there will be four each day up until Friday. Non-runners count as losers. In the event of a tie at the end of the week, the winner will be the tipster who, from among those tied on the highest score, posted their tips earliest on the final day.
