Mid Valley (3.30) doesn't care how you pronounce South-Well. He clearly likes the place, and all his three wins have come on the Fibresand surface here. With William Buick up, the five-year-old should go well in today's 12-furlongs handicap following a return to form when second here last month. His chief market rival, Wizard Looking, will be having his first run on this slow artificial surface.

With a high draw such an advantage in sprints at Beverley, how strange that the four non-runners in today's opening 5f race were due to come out of boxes 4, 5, 1 and 2. Bahama Baileys should win it, but at a bigger price Woqoodd (3.20) makes more appeal in the sprint handicap later on this card. Well drawn, and from a stable in good form, Richard Fahey's four-year-old will appreciate today's fast ground after two defeats on a soft surface this season.

Though she will probably go off around evens, Kasumi (3.40) should win at Musselburgh if reproducing her latest Ascot form. Psychic Star (8.40) is another likely short-priced scorer. She is well in at the weights in tonight's Towcester handicap hurdle judged on her latest much-improved run in blinkers.
