Yesterday's successes were welcome, especially as the going changes are making things tricky at present. At Leicester the ground remains good to firm and Nautilus (3.50) is the first tip of the day for the John Gosden-William Buick combination. The selection won in fine style at Newmarket last month and was far from disgraced when returning to that track and runner-up after perhaps being asked to go for home too soon.
At Beverley, where the ground is also on the fast side, Richard Guest looks to have found a good opportunity for Eddiemaurice (4.35) to open his account in the opening race of the afternoon. He has a form advantage over the rivals in this heat that have already seen a racecourse and none of the newcomers have come in for significant support this morning.
