The wet weather continues to take its toll on turf racing, with Newcastle tomorrow the latest casualty, but no such problems on the all-weather at Great Leighs today. Mount Hermon (3.50) has already shown a liking for the Polytrack circuit here and Hughie Morrison's four-year-old can defy his wide draw in the mile handicap this afternoon. This is a better class of race than he usually contests, but Mount Hermon looks to have some improvement in him. He was backed into 15-1 from 10-1 with Hill's this morning.
There seems to be a revival in James Fanshawe's fortunes, and the Newmarket trainer has chances with Finmore Queen (5.00) at Great Leighs. She impressed clock-watchers with her win at Lingfield last time and could be well handicapped.
At Chester, I like Dzesmin (6.10) on his first start for Richard Fahey. The six-year-old was set to run in a valuable York handicap this week, and he is nicely treated at present, a pound below his last winning mark.
