Keith Goldsworthy earned a deserved following with his small team of jumpers through the winter. The trainer has a knack of improving cast-offs from other yards, and he has worked the oracle with Silver Blue (4.15). This five-year-old looked thoroughly ungenuine but won on his first run for Goldsworthy at Brighton and can follow up there today. Silver Blue was repeatedly denied a clear run when third at Bath next time.
Some are querying the stamina of Punjabi (4.40) on his return to the Flat over 12 furlongs at Newmarket, but that is based on his record with another trainer. He has developed into a top-flight hurdler for Nicky Henderson and Punjabi only has to transfer a fraction of that ability to the Flat game in order to win off this lowly handicap mark.
At Pontefract tonight, Malinsa Blue (6.30) looks ready to strike after a promising run last time out. She has a good record with Royston Ffrench in the saddle, and is well handicapped on a mark 1lb lower than when gaining her last win at this track.
