It looks as if Ryan Moore will be riding Papal Bull in Saturday's King George at Ascot for guv'nor Sir Michael Stoute. Information coming our way suggests that is the case and the betting has also indicated that is so with Papal Bull being well supported and Ask, his stablemate, utterly friendless in the ante-post market.
This year's race promises to be a fascinating tactical battle. Aidan O'Brien would obviously dearly love to dictate matters here as has been the case in a number of big races so far this term. He has entered his odds-on favourite Duke Of Marmalade's regular gallops companion Red Rock Canyon. Ideally he would like a steady pace for the Marmaliser who is running over 12 furlongs for the first time.
But that scenario would not suit the Youmzain and Lucarno camps. They require a strong pace for both their entries and with Lucarno an all-the-way winner at Newmarket last time and proven at longer distances perhaps he will be the one to make the running and ensure a proper gallop.
As for today the suggestion is the Guardian nap Loita Hills 8pm at the jumps fixture at Bangor. He is a progressive animal and with main danger Apollo Creed looking vulnerable with the drop in trip, he looks the one to be on.
