Now this is more like it. Intriguing racing today and plenty of quality action tomorrow. I will be heading to Sandown for the Eclipse tomorrow but will have one eye on proceedings at Haydock where Mad Rush, recommended at 11-2 earlier in the week, runs in the big betting race of the day.
Having had another look at this race since the final runners came through yesterday (thank goodness for 48-hour declarations) there is going to be plenty of pace on with three who like to force the pace in the field. That will suit the favourite and I'm hopeful of a big run.
Today marks the return to action of one of the most interesting horses in training, namely Caravel 4.35pm who Sir Mark Prescott sends to Sandown Park. The step up in trip on this stiff track is sure to suit and he looks the type to make plenty of progress this campaign. As is the case with Prescott runners there should be no concerns about the long absence.
