A decidedly quiet day and, with regard to the jumpers at Fontwell, the revised going report that includes "good to firm'' this morning could find out a few that have been slogging round in soft ground. Sou'wester (2.20)won in the mud at Plumpton but he is also a fast-ground winner and Colin Tizzard's well handicapped chaser can follow up in the best race on the Fontwell card today. Mighty Matters looks dangerous, but Sou'wester won at Plumpton in the style of a horse some way ahead of the handicapper. Despite his sharp rise in the ratings, he is still very well treated on his hurdling form.
Top Fontwell trainer Gary Moore should go close with Premier Des Marais (2.55). This French import has been running in better novice events at Newbury, finishing fourth behind Helens Vision and then occupying the same position behind Pasco. He gives every indication that the step up to 2m6f here will be in his favour.
