With Charlie Mann back among the winners this week, the Lambourn trainer's faith in Shining Gale (1.20) will hopefully be justified at Uttoxeter today. Mann rates this Irish point-to-point winner as potentially the best horse he has trained. I know we have heard this sort of thing before, but Shining Gale certainly looked promising when finishing second in a decent looking bumper event at Chepstow.
The Nicky Henderson stable expect to win the Uttoxeter bumper with Campannello (3.35), and they are chuffed that Jack The Giant has crept into tomorrow's Ladbroke at Ascot as 18 of the 18 runners. As expected, stable-mate Ingratitude failed to make the cut. He is one to watch out for over the Christmas period.
Wolverhampton's all-weather card has a familiar look about it tonight, but the exception is Breaker Morant (7.00), trained by James Burns. The Irish trainer has only ever run two horses here, a winner and Scarlett Heart, who was unlucky not to finish closer than fourth last Saturday. Breaker Morant encountered soft ground on his only start for Burns so far. Conditions will be more in his favour now, and with the blinkers back on, Breaker Morant should go well.
