Jumps backers will need to tread warily today. With 33mm, or 1.3 inches in "old money", of rain having fallen at Leicester last night and the course description currently good to soft, soft in places with good to firm patches in the back straight, the fear for punters must be false ground at the track.
On the two all-weather cards there are three that take the eye on a modest day's action. At Wolverhampton 3.00 Ebraam, who has been the subject of support in the offices this morning, should be supported in his bid for a hat-trick. He has always been a consistent animal but has demonstrated clear signs of improvement on his last two outings. A low draw is an advantage at Wolverhampton in sprints and the selection is ideally berthed in stall 1.
3.30 Tubby Isaacs is the other bet at the midlands track. The selection and Sintenis Mac look to have this between them but Tubby Isaacs' rival has been done no favours by the draw out in stall 13. The selection has the best form on offer here and the forecast 7-4 looks decent value.
Quality is in short supply at Kempton where 4.20 Highest Esteem is the only suggested wager. Gary Moore's runner won with a fair bit in hand last time and the evidence that day suggests he can be rated better than the handicap mark he has to run off today under his 6lb penalty.
