The quality of runner today is marginally better than yesterday, when we managed to find two winners and eke out a nice profit on the day, but the races look a deal trickier. Once again the weather will be the most important factor where the turf races are concerned.
Folkestone looks an interesting meeting to watch with an eye to future prospects, with French imports and horses new to chasing littering the card. Both at the Kent venue and at Fakenham the likelihood of heavy rain turning the ground very testing tempers enthusiasm.
1.30 Beau Torero has run three times at Fakenham, winning two and being beaten narrowly once. He looks a banker at 11/10 on a track which throws up a large number of track specialists and where the traditional jumps type usually finds things happening all too fast. The only proviso would be if the ground deteriorated significantly.
On the all-weather front 1.50 Yankee Storm at Wolverhampton looks the best bet at 7/2. A good run from a poor draw last time when he was dropped to this five-furlong trip suggests he should go well from a much more favoured stalls berth this time.
