The quality of racing today is hardly Sovereign Series but it's a notch better than yesterday's dross on these shores. In particular I'm loooking forward to tonight's meeting at Newbury which features a number of horses that could prove worth following for the rest of the Flat campaign.
West With The Wind 6.50pm very much caught the eye last time at Musselburgh as those who followed my Derby Day blog from Epsom will have noticed. This track will be much more to Tom Tate's charge's liking and while this is a competitive heat I'm hopeful of a good showing from the well-regarded colt.
The best bet of the day is at Yarmouth where Frederik Tylicki, who looks a cut above the average apprentice jockey, is on board Kangrina 5.30pm in the concluding event at the track. In a race restricted to apprentices I expect him to shine again on a mare who looks nicely in at the weights and whose latest running should be ignored.
