Lady Gorgeous (3.50) can defy top weight and supply top points for the girls' team at Ascot in the annual racing curiosity that is today's Shergar Cup. Hayley Turner, the filly's jockey, relishes her role as a captain in the competition and has enjoyed plenty of success at the meeting.

She has a willing partner here in Lady Gorgeous, beaten only a couple of lengths in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot and then given plenty to do when a fair sixth at Newmarket last time out. Off a mark of 98, she isn't exceptionally well handicapped in the six-furlong Sprint, but a number of her rivals appear badly out of form.

Ascot 2.05 Having bitten off more than he has been able to chew in Group races on his last two starts, Stone Of Folca may do better back in handicap company. But preference is just for the in-form Taajub, who has produced two of the best efforts of his career at this track in his last two starts. He is a straightforward ride.

Haydock 2.20 Ryan Moore did not panic when his rivals appeared to be getting away from him and Gospel Choir last time, bringing his mount with a sweeping challenge from the furlong-pole to win going away. A 6lb rise in the weights may not be enough to prevent the follow-up.

Ascot 2.40 The return to a faster racing surface appeared to help Fennell Bay at Goodwood last time, although his upturn in form coincided with a general upturn in fortunes for Mark Johnston. He is only 8lb higher than when winning here at the Royal meeting in June.

Haydock 2.55 With a handy 9lb weight allowance from his older rivals, Gabrial can get back on the winning trail. He found Frankel too tough to handle at Goodwood but a reading of his bare form against the runner-up, Farhh, looks good enough.

Ascot 3.15 The frustrating Rock A Doodle Doo was set enough to do when a beaten favourite in this contest 12 months ago, but he remains capable of winning off this mark. Chantal Sutherland has a sympathetic riding style which could suit.

Newmarket 3.35 Godolphin have won this for the last three years and must go close to making it four with Certify, an impressive winner at the July meeting. The move up to seven furlongs should suit.
