Handicaps for lady amateur riders are usually best left alone for betting purposes, especially at a track as tricky as Chester, but it might be worth making an exception there tonight with Prelude (9.15). She is ridden by the very capable Amy Ryan and is something of a course specialist, having won this race last year and followed up with two more course and distance wins. Running off the same mark as her last success, Prelude looks primed for a return to form.
Drawn Gold (7.15) does not have many miles on the clock for a four-year-old handicapper and he has strong claims in the 10-furlong handicap at Chester after a promising run at Pontefract.
Robin The Till (6.45) has looked a bit of a handful in his two starts to date, but his tendency to hang left should not be a problem from his low draw at Chester. He is clearly speedy and he can boost the form of the Royal Ascot-bound Orizaba, having finished seventh behind Mick Channon's colt at Newbury last time.
