Deep Winter (4.15) is one for the Royal Ascot expenses at Carlisle today. Trainer Richard Fahey has worked wonders getting this filly handicapped on a lowly mark of 59 judged on the promise she showed first time out at Pontefract. It will be a surprise if she fails to step up on recent efforts now that she tackles 7f and some moderate opposition.
Eric Alston is a trainer in form and, while his sprinter Maison Dieu (3.15) does not have a great wins to runs ratio, today could be the day for this five-year-old. He runs at Carlisle with blinkers on for the first time this season, and has dropped to a rating 2lb below his last winning mark.
Staying with stables in form, Romantic Verse (7.40) has to be of interest at Warwick tonight. Her trainer, William Haggas, is churning out winners and this Kyllachy filly should be suited by the drop to six furlongs. She has a good draw.
