The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

The big news at 30 Rock is that Jimmy Fallon’s name is being added to the marquee, which as he stated “makes it exponentially harder for them to fire me”. Not that they would. His brand of viral-friendly late-night entertainment has been winning the rating wars since he took over in March. To celebrate he turned the lights on and then got into the Thanksgiving spirit with a Turkey Scooter Race with Tim Allen, where they had to navigate a cheek-pinching aunt, a family argument, some pilgrims and an uncle trying to watch football. He also spoke to will.i.am and reminisced about their Ew! Single, which wasn’t quite as fun as seeing two grown men race around on scooters made to look like poultry.

Late Show with David Letterman

Dave sat down with Seth Rogen to ask him the question we’ve all wanted to ask “why does he feel the need to get naked so often with James Franco?”. Apparently, it’s all about his fascination with the reality TV show Naked and Afraid, where contestants are dropped off into the wilderness with only one item (Rogen would choose a cow). They also got into how Staten Island and North Korea are aesthetically similar before Dave spoke to Amy Sedaris about the merits of getting a second dog. There aren’t that many apparently.

The Late Late Show

Craig Ferguson isn’t going quietly into the night. Before he vacates the Late Late Show chair he seems determined to add a touch of edgy weirdness to proceedings. There was some gallows humour as he noted he’s wearing his blur Thanksgiving Monday tie, and that next year no one would have a clue if he’d wear it then because he’d no longer be a TV host. Not content with that and having Metallica on board last week, last night he invited William Shatner to discuss how frying turkey can turn deadly. Shatner’s advice: “Don’t fry a turkey … foolishly.”

Jimmy Kimmel Live

Over on the west coast Jimmy Kimmel caught up with Jennifer Aniston, who’s been promo-ing Horrible Bosses 2 all over the place including the Graham Norton show where she revealed she might be up for a Friends reunion when the cast is very very old. On Kimmel she let everyone in on the fact she has a fear of flying before facing off against a Celebrity Curse Off with her old pal Lisa Kudrow who was hawking her HBO show The Comeback. The rules were a bit like a reggae soundclash. As in those competitions, originality is key: they couldn’t repeat any curses. Their filth mouths were pretty impressive with Aniston switching things up by throwing in Greek swear words and Kudrow focusing on genitalia-based insults.
