Talented youngster speaks out after signing Tottenham contract

Tottenham confirmed the signing of Keenan Ferguson over the weekend following his appearance for the club's U23s in the 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Departing Sheffield United over the summer, the versatile defender had been on trial at Spurs in his bid to earn a contract in N17.

Well, it appears that Ferguson did impress in his time in the capital as the club revealed in their match report of the game that the 20-year-old has in fact penned a contract with the U23s until the end of the season.

Capable of playing at right-back or in the heart of defence, the youngster will be hoping to take his chance in the side over the coming months as he looks to earn a long-term deal at Tottenham.

The new arrival did feature at right-back and played the full 90 minutes as Sterling cancelled out an early Teddy Jenks goal for the Seagulls.

Following confirmation of the move on the club's website, the player then took to Instagram to have his say on joining the Lilywhites.

He said: "New chapter!! Delighted to sign for @spursofficial. Time to push on!! #coys."

With Jose Mourinho signing three players for the first team so far this summer in Joe Hart, Matt Doherty and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, the club's academy have also been busy bringing in some talented players.

Alfie Devine linked up with the U18s following his move from Wigan Athletic in July and he has already caught the eye after appearing for the first team in their friendlies against Ipswich Town and Reading.

With a number of players making the step up from the academy to the first team in recent years, Ferguson will be hoping to do so the same in the future,
