A talented young cricketer is fighting for his life after being hit by a car.
Alex Moffitt, 17, was struck by a grey coloured Honda CR-V in the early hours of Saturday morning in Maghull.
The teenager was walking along Kenyons Lane, near the junction with Dodds Lane, when he was struck at around 1.50am.
He suffered serious head injuries and was taken to The Walton Centre for neurosurgery, where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

In a statement Merseyside police said: "A 50-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink driving. She has since been released under investigation."
Maghull Cricket Club put a post on its Twitter account to share the news and to send best wishes to Alex's family.
Officers from the Roads Policing Unit are now appealing for witnesses following the collision.

Inspector Phil McManus said: "We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or may have seen the vehicle in the area prior to the collision occurring.
"We would urge anyone who lives in the area and has CCTV to check if it has captured footage of the vehicle or collision itself. Likewise, we would be grateful for anyone with dashcam footage to please get in touch."
