Talented winger 'already training' with Rangers ahead of potential transfer

Djeidi Gassama is reportedly already training with Rangers ahead of a potential move from Sheffield Wednesday.

The 21-year-old scored eight goals and assisted another for the English Championship club last season.

The Rangers Review reported on Tuesday that the Ibrox club have reached an agreement in principle that will make Gassama Russell Martin's latest summer signing.

The Frenchman is capable of operating across the forward line. He was mainly used from the left flank by Wednesday, and his arrival at Ibrox will give Martin another much-needed option in the final third.

Now, according to French journalist Sebastien Vidal, Gassama is already training with Rangers at their camp at St George's Park down south.

Gassama would become Rangers' sixth summer signing, following the arrivals of Lyall Cameron, Max Aarons, Emmanuel Fernandes, Joe Rothwell and Thelo Aasgaard.

The winger spent time in the youth set-up at current European champions Paris Saint-Germain.

"I expect the team to look different again, the squad to look different in a week's time," said boss Martin after his side drew 2-2 in a friendly with Club Brugge at Ibrox over the weekend.

"So, I think we are, we're definitely want to do more, for sure. And also probably some players need to to move on as well at some point because the squad's going to start looking very big and very heavy. I don't know is the answer, but it will definitely look different in a week's time."
