A talented group of Craigneuk kids are set to test themselves on one of the country’s top mountain biking tracks.
Three bus loads of teenage bikers will be hoping to impress on the track at The Trossachs run by professional cycling team Endura who boasts world class Scottish riders such as Danny McAskill and Kriss Kyle.
Dan Scott, from community interest group Socialtrack, helps train the Craigneuk teenagers at Wishawhill Wood pump track and is delighted they are being given an opportunity to test themselves on a world class course.
He said: “It’s a fantastic BMX course and it’s great the Craigneuk kids will get the chance to experience it.
“It will be a bit different to what they normally experience but they are all really excited.
“To have so many teenagers going up after all the restrictions that have been placed on them. The guys and the girls are buzzing.”
Despite a number of restrictions during the pandemic, the Socialtrack team have still been able to put on a number of coaching sessions for a wide range of youngsters who use the track.
These include the group’s 360 Club which ran throughout Easter with the help of a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund as well as BMX, scooter and skateboard sessions with Socialtrack and Made4UInML2.
Socialtrack also benefited from a sizeable donation from Craigneuk Community Council members following the group’s decision to disband earlier this year.
Dan is hoping the Endura experience will continue to inspire the talented teenagers to continue to enjoy their fledgling cycling careers.
He added: “Endura have a lot of big names signed to them, they are one of the biggest names in Scottish cycling.
“All we are trying to do is give our kids some opportunities. They are really talented .
“Some of them haven’t had the chance to go on tracks like this before so I’m sure it’ll be a challenge they’ll enjoy.”
