Talented Scots youngsters sing Cyndi Lauper classic in tribute to coronavirus key workers

Talented kids from a Scots music school have put their vocal skills to use during lockdown to create a heartwarming tribute to coronavirus key workers.

Members of Singer Station Music School in West Dunbartonshire collectively sing the Cyndi Lauper classic True Colours while holding creative banners in support of all health, care and social professionals on the frontline of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The song choice was inspired by the rainbows school children have been drawing to brighten up the windows of our streets during lockdown.

Louise McFarlane, who co-runs Singer Station school with Des McFarlane, told the Record: “We have been trying to do something positive every week.

“All the kids asked for an online class because we all want to sing together.”

Louise collected around 20 to 30 clips of the children singing – with some of the singers being as young as three.

She sent them to John Paul Lusk of Leven Films who offered to edit them into a full music video.

Lousie said: “Some of these kids have parents who are carers or work in the shops and we wanted to show they are all as important as those on the NHS.

“Honest to God when I saw the video I have never cried so much in all my life.

“This is so much more than I thought it would be, I’m so emotional and I think it’s exactly what people need right now.”

Singer Station are not stopping there as Louise has plans to make another video over the coming weeks - and this time she wants the parents to get involved too.

“I’ll give them a week to learn a song and we’ll have the mums and dads singing this time too.”
