A talented travel and family photographer has died after she was swept into the sea during a photo shoot in the remote Outer Hebrides.

Agnes Proudhon-Smith was taking photos when the accident happened on Wednesday morning at a beach on the Isle of Harris.

It is believed the 50-year-old, who specialised in portraits of families and children, had been on the rocks before she ended up in the water.

Police, the RNLI and a helicopter from HM Coastguard scoured the area at around 7.45am and she was found on the shoreline.

She was airlifted to to Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway where she was pronounced dead and her next of kin informed, Surrey Live reports.

Tributes have been posted online to the "talented photographer" who was from Esher, Surrey.

Fellow photographer Vicki Knights said Ms Proudhon-Smith was an "amazingly talented" person.
