Talented photographer and dad of twins 'died in his sleep' at just 48

A talent photographer is believed to have died in his sleep at the age of just 48.

Father-of-two Richard Caulfield left behind his twin nine-year-old sons Brandon and Jenson when he died at the weekend.

Martin Caulfield, his older brother, said he was a "very likeable lad" and expressed regret that he had died so close to Christmas, Examiner Live reported.

He said: "No time is a good time to go but at 48-years-old and only a week before Christmas, this news feels terribly cruel - predominantly for his boys."

Martin said it appeared that his brother had died in his sleep following recent and long-term health problems.

Richard, who lived in Armitage Bridge, West Yorkshire, was an caring dad, his brother said, who took his children out on "old-fashioned outdoor" adventures.

When not working in a warehouse he was a semi-professional photographer and enjoyed playing chess.

John Hill, who played in a chess team with him, said:  "I sat alongside Richard more times than I care to remember, and in a game which, as we know can cause high levels of stress and competitiveness, he was someone who always seemed to play for the love of the game, something I know he was trying to pass on to his children."

Richard was also a lover of urban exploring and was photographed exploring disused mills and factories.

Vinny Tyrell, who shared his love of taking pictures, described Richard as his "photography soul mate" who would be "hugely missed".

On a local Facebook page set up by Richard some of his friends issued tributes to him.

One friend described him as a kind, thoughtful and very respectful man whose photography was widely admired.

Another described him as a 'wonderfully talented' photographer.
