Talented Nottingham Forest teenager has 'bright future' ahead of him, says Reds chief

Brennan Johnson has a bright future ahead of him, according to academy director Gary Brazil.

The talented teenager is rated highly at Nottingham Forest, and has attracted more admiring glances after an impressive campaign with the Under-23s side managed by Jimmy Gilligan and Chris Cohen, which saw him turn in some eye-catching performances

Brazil, who has worked with the Welsh Under-19 international throughout his emergence through the Nigel Doughty Academy, believes the improvements Johnson has made will see him enjoy a bright career in football, if he continues his hard work with a first team appearance on the horizon.

“Really excited for this young man,” Brazil wrote on Twitter.

Brennan Johnson celebrates flicking in his second goal to make it 2-1 with Jayden Richardson and Jake Taylor (Dan Westwell)

“Made massive improvements this year working with a group of very committed staff.

“With continued hard work, Brennan has a big future ahead of him.”

Johnson, who celebrated his 18th birthday on Thursday, scored 15 times this season including a brace in the final home win over Millwall at the City Ground, along with an impressive hat-trick at Ipswich Town on the final day in a 4-1 Portman Road win.

That form has grabbed the attention of first team boss Martin O’Neill, who values him highly and is planning on including him as part as of the Reds’ pre-season plans.

The Irishman has told Johnson that he will get his chance in the first team next season, if he continues his progress and he’ll have the chance to showcase his ability to the Forest chief on summer trips to Spain and Greece.
