A talented young performer has secured a spot at MGA Academy in Edinburgh after years of training.
Kayla Jackson has worked hard over the past 10 years to secure a spot at the coveted academy. The prestigious school has a limited number of places and people from all around the UK have applied for places.
The 16-year old previously attended acting, dancing, singing, and ballet classes at local clubs and is currently a student at Theatre School of Scotland. She was recently selected to represent Scotland in the opening act of the New York Tartan parade taking place next April.
Kayla, from Cambuslang, told Lanarkshire Live: “I'm inspired by many things, my teachers who have helped me to gain confidence and train my voice and body, my friends and family who have supported me throughout everything.
"I wouldn't be the same without their support.”
“Being able to perform on stage for people is a dream come true. I enjoy being on stage so much, I feel like I'm on cloud nine.”
She says that she also hopes to go on and complete a degree in musical theatre and hopes to work in the performing arts industry in London’s West End.
“I would love to be a part of the cast for Heathers The Musical and SIX The Musical as these are my top two favourite musicals of all time.”
She also enjoys helping promote anti-bullying campaigns with a local charity, Healthy, and Happy.
Kayla and her family are hoping to gain a sponsorship from a local business/community grant that would help to pay for her accommodation, footwear, travel, and cost of the course.
