Talented Lanarkshire photographers return with stunning competition entries

Some of Hamilton' s most talented photographers are back, with club members once again showing off their fantastic pictures.

Last year, many of the group's usual activities were forced to change due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and then again when lockdown restrictions hampered social gatherings.

However, that didn't stop local snappers getting out and about and doing what they do best.

It meant, as competitions continued to run through the club's season, more and more entries of pictures taken in the local community were submitted, and allowed members to be more creative in their work.

Hamilton Camera Club has now started back its season and recently held its first Open competition.

Leading up to the deadline for submissions, photographers enjoyed a wide range of speakers on different subjects give talks at their meetings.

The competitions saw more than 30 images compete in a very close contest with the results being judged by speaker Findley Rankin.

The winners were Alistair Gardiner for the Intermediate category with his fantastic photo, titled 'Gone Fishin'.

And in the Advanced category, Mike Farrance scooped the top prize with his picture, titled 'Chasing the Wind'.

Club secretary Jim Shaw said: "As ever, the Hamilton Camera Club is always open to new members joining.

"If they are a complete beginner and new to the world of photography or like myself into more of the concept arts, then we will help them on their way to achieving their goals."

The club's next competition will focus on the interior and exterior of architecture, and anyone interested is welcome to meet the group via zoom.
