Talented Kilwinning musician set to perform in coveted spot during London show

A talented Kilwinning Academy pupil is set to perform live at the Royal Albert Hall in London after landing a coveted spot with the BBC Proms Youth Ensemble.

Violinist Scott Bryant was only one of 18 youngsters to be chosen for the honour after submitting an impressive audition performance.

A chuffed Scott told the Irvine Herald: “I am delighted to have been selected for the BBC Proms Youth Ensemble and look forward to playing at the Royal Albert Hall in September.”

Scott will now join the ensemble for several rehearsals in Cardiff before the big night at the Royal Albert Hall scheduled for Tuesday, September 10.

During this time the Scott, 16, will perform alongside the National Orchestra of Wales.

Mae Murray, North Ayrshire Council’s music service manager, said: “I am delighted that Scott has this opportunity to work with a professional orchestra and to perform in the Royal Albert Hall.

“This shows his total commitment and passion for music and I am looking forward to seeing the performance.”

Dedicated Scott,has prepared for his time in the spotlight by studying each Saturday at the Junior Conservatoire.

He is also currently a member of the North Ayrshire Schools’ Senior String Orchestra; Chamber Group; West of Scotland Symphony Orchestra and National Youth Orchestra of Scotland.

Scott, who is in S5 at Kilwinning Academy, hopes to apply for full time education at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow once he finishes school.
