Talented ice skater stuns locals with display on frozen Queen's Park pond

The winter weather is firmly upon us and Glaswegians are making the most of it.

As ever Queen's Park is proving to be a hot spot for locals and with the pond frozen over, it's now popular with ice skaters.

One talented skater was caught on camera gliding across the frozen pond on Saturday morning as locals looked on in amazement.

The girl can be seen performing some ice skating moves we've only ever seen at the Olympics and more spins than we could possibly count.

With the cold but dry weather set to stay into next week, the Queen's Park pond is likely to stay frozen over but the advice is to stay clear.

Police Scotland chief superintendent David Duncan, said: "Winter, and the festive period, brings increased demands on all the emergency services, and the partner organisations which work alongside the blue light services.

"With the current restrictions on travel and socialising as a result of coronavirus (COVID-19), more people may be out walking in their local areas than might usually be, as well as exploring new locations.

“The best advice is to avoid open water, be it frozen or not, and don't put yourself, your children or your pets at risk. It's impossible to tell how thick ice is at a glance, and water temperatures beneath broken ice can quickly make someone hypothermic. Please, stay safe near water this winter."

But, as ever, be careful out there!
