Talented Ayr dancer keeps people on the move with lockdown routines

A talented dancer has transformed her home into a makeshift studio during the coronavirus lockdown.

Teen starlet Abby McMillan is broadcasting routines to the world from her house in Ayr.

And the 14-year-old is hoping her upbeat project is helping to bring smiles to those tuning in.

The Ayr Academy pupil has created her own "Dancing Through Lockdown" page on Facebook which has already drawn more than 100 members.

New routines and videos are shared as Abby and fellow dancers try to stay active through the shutdown.

The dance pupil, who attends classes with LJM Dance and Fiona Young, has been busy using her time productively.

Proud mum Fiona, 39, told the Ayrshire Post : "Lockdown has actually inspired Abby and she says it's helped her to find herself.

"She's more sure than ever what she wants to do with her life now, so at least something good has come of it.

"She's in her room constantly running through the routines and sharing them with everyone online.

"It's been quite inspirational to see how she's thrown herself into things and she's determined to make the most of her downtime."

Viewers from as far afield as London have tuned in to watch Abby go through her homemade routines and are eager for more.

Fiona added: "It's keeping her busy and she's loving the connection with people as she tries to keep their spirits up through dance.

"I'm just really proud that she's gone and done this and is helping to keep people smile at such a tough time."
