Takumi Minamino's tweet after Liverpool goal made his intentions clear

Takumi Minamino looks set to become Liverpool's first January signing - having already scored his first goal at Anfield months earlier.

Minamino scored the second of Salzburg's goals in the 4-3 defeat to Liverpool and impressed as the Austrian side gave the Reds a Champions League scare.

The Japanese international now looks to be on the verge of moving to Anfield permanently in January after the Reds stole a march on rivals Manchester United by activating a £7.25m release clause in the attacker's contract.

After scoring at Anfield, Minamino tweeted to tell of his delight at finding the net - as well as hinting at the next step in his career.

The 24-year-old moved to Salzburg in 2014 from Cerezo Osaka in the J-League and has since scored 63 goals in 192 games for the Red Bull club.

And the attacker clearly enjoyed his taste of playing at one of Europe's most historic stadiums and wanted to step up.

He tweeted: "Almost 5 years since transferring overseas. I am glad that there is the best stage to test if I am growing up now. But I want to grow more."

Liverpool fans will be hoping many more goals at Anfield follow should he complete his move to Merseyside in the New Year.
