Takumi Minamino makes Liverpool admission and explains where he must improve

Takumi Minamino has pinpointed three areas where he already believes he can improve at Liverpool.

Minamino has been given a gradual introduction to the Reds first team by Jurgen Klopp after officially completing a £7.25million switch from Red Bull Salzburg at the start of the month.

The Japan international was handed a second successive FA Cup start in the fourth round 2-2 draw at Shrewsbury Town on Sunday having made his debut in the 1-0 home win over Everton in the previous round.

The 25-year-old made his Premier League debut last Thursday as a first-half substitute for the injured Sadio Mane.

With doubts persisting over Mane's fitness, Minamino is vying for a start when Liverpool look to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to 19 points with victory at West Ham United on Wednesday in their game in hand.

And having featured in a variety of roles already for the Reds - he started in the number nine role at the weekend before featuring on both flanks and a deeper role - the versatile forward acknowledges there is more to come.

"I need to raise my tactical awareness and show my versatility," he said, speaking to Kyodo News after Sunday's game.

"I started in a role that I'm used to, where I was able to receive the ball in good positions, but in the second half I became less involved.

"I have to be more aggressive."
