While fans of countless teams will be eagerly anticipating their first January signing over the coming days and weeks, Liverpool supporters have the luxury of knowing that their club have already snapped up a potential bargain in the form of Takumi Minamino.
The dominant Premier League leaders wasted no time in moving for Minamino, who has enjoyed a starring role for Red Bull Salzburg this term alongside the likes of the Borussia Dortmund-bound Erling Braut Haaland.
With the Japanese international having caught their eye in a pair of Champions League encounters, Liverpool needed no second invitation to activate a release clause in his Salzburg contract worth just £7.25million.
While the transfer was wrapped up and announced earlier this month, it will only become properly official when the transfer window re-opens for business on January 1, with Minamino - who cannot feature against Sheffield United on Thursday - potentially set to make his debut in the FA Cup third-round Merseyside derby clash against Everton at Anfield this weekend.
Ahead of his switch being officially ratified, Minamino reported for his first day at Melwood on Tuesday, embracing manager Jurgen Klopp during a tour and meeting several of his new team-mates including Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Xherdan Shaqiri and Adrian.
He later took part in his first training session as a Liverpool player as Klopp's men continued to prepare for their opening contest of 2020.
