Taking a look at Kirk Cousins’ 1 playoff start

Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is preparing for his second career start in a playoff game. Cousins and the Vikings will travel to New Orleans to take on the Saints in the wild card round on Sunday.

The last, and only, time Cousins started a playoff game was during the 2015 season when he led the Redskins to a 9-7 record and the NFC East championship.

The Redskins lost to the Packers 35-18 in the wild card. Cousins’ numbers were pretty solid. He completed 63 percent of his passes for 329 yards and a touchdown. He had a QB rating of 91.7.

Cousins got the Redskins off to an 11-0 start, but then things fell apart for the Redskins.

Cousins was sacked six times (Cousins has a tendency to maybe hold onto the ball a little too long) and fumbled three times, losing one.

He did also run for a 2-yard touchdown.

There’s no secret that Cousins hasn’t performed in the biggest games of his career. But sometimes it’s unfair to put it all on him. This game in 2015 is a good example of that. It won’t be easy, but he’ll have a chance to silence some haters on Sunday. Or he can add fuel to the fire.

We’ll see.
