Major TV station TBS has issued an apology on its website over its Nov. 10 program that covered singer Paul McCartney's cancellation of his 2014 Japan tour events, saying the program had "misled viewers."
On Nov. 10, the Information 7 Days Newscaster show aired a segment about "last-minute cancellations around the world," and it introduced a topic about McCartney cancelling his events after arriving in Japan in 2014 because of a viral infection.
There, Takeshi Kitano introduced information from Twitter alleging that McCartney was "barhopping in Tokyo's Roppongi district" at that time as an "inside story." Kitano used an illustration while explaining the segment.

According to TBS, the broadcaster received complaints from viewers after the broadcast, such as that the program would "cause misunderstanding" and it "lacked sufficient information."
"We introduced the topic as gossip that circulated on the internet. But as a result, we have caused a misunderstanding among many viewers, partly due to insufficient explanation. We would like to offer an apology," TBS said in the statement on its website.
