Takeover latest with reports GACP and Peter Kenyon have formed two new companies: NUFC evening update

Reports have indicated there could be a potential development in the latest takeover saga at Newcastle United.

Pundit Danny Mills has accused Newcastle United head coach Steve Bruce of treating the players like children following their thrashing at Leicester City.

Elsewhere, we take a look at the story of how Massadio Haidara has rebuilt his career since leaving Tyneside, and the Manchester United legends who keep an eye out for the Magpie

Here are the biggest Newcastle United stories on the evening of Thursday, October 3.

Takeover latest

Fresh reports have emerged this evening that GACP Sports have in the last week formed two new companies in an effort to facilitate a takeover of Newcastle United.

The Shields Gazette reports the names of the two companies are ‘GACP Newcastle Management LLP’ and ‘GACP Newcastle Partners LLP’.

Both companies are said to be registered to Delaware and owner fully by GACP Sports Partners LLC.

This step does not indicate a takeover is immediately forthcoming. During their very public approach for the club, The Bin Zayed Group registered Monochrome Acquisitions Ltd with Companies House in June.

Bruce accused of treating players like 'children'

Steve Bruce has been accused of treating Newcastle United players like 'children' following the hammering by Leicester City.

That's the view of pundit Danny Mills following reports the head coach cancelled training in the wake of the demolition at the King Power Stadium.

The Magpies slumped into the relegation zone following a dismal second-half display which saw ten-man United ship four goals.

Bruce compared the performance to a "surrender", and Mills believes the head coach is desperately searching for a way to trigger a response from the players ahead of the visit of Manchester United on Sunday.

Haidara rebuilding his career

Massadio Haidara was a player that former Newcastle United chief scout Graham Carr strongly believed was one for the future.

The French left-back's arrival wasn't exactly a marquee signing when he was unveiled in 2013.

But as part of a package of signings from Ligue 1 that included Moussa Sissoko, Mathieu Debuchy, Yoan Gouffran and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Newcastle fans were excited by the prospect of one of Europe's top young defenders committing their future to the club.

At the time Newcastle were believed to have pipped some of the bigger clubs in France and the Premier League for Haidara's signature.

So what happened to the young defender who was destined for great things?

MUFC players looking out for NUFC results

After giving his players a brutal dressing down, Steve Bruce did not have to look too far to find a friendly face following Newcastle United's 5-0 defeat against Leicester City.

Peter Schmeichel, a figure who still brings back some bad memories for Newcastle fans of a certain vintage, was present at the King Power Stadium to see the game.

After the final whistle, the Dane made his way down to the players' tunnel post-match, hoping to catch a word with his old neighbour as he waited for his son, Kasper, to emerge.

Another of Bruce's former team-mates, Gary Pallister, is also planning on popping by the manager's office post-match after Manchester United visit St James' Park on Sunday. How Bruce will hope for a better result this time around after one of his most humiliating afternoons in football.

Famous clashes between rivals

Times may have changed - but Newcastle United and Manchester United is undoubtedly one of the most famous rivalries of the Premier League era.

Kevin Keegan's Entertainers went toe-to-toe with the Red Devils at the top end of the table for several seasons.

Sir Alex Ferguson's side also enjoyed a number of feisty encounters against the rejuvenated Magpies under Sir Bobby Robson.

The Red Devils travel to Tyneside once again on Sunday with both teams needing to improve on their slow starts to the season.

Here, we take a look back at some of the most memorable Premier League encounters between the rivals:
