Zhi Min Chen has been caged for at least 20 years after pleading guilty to choking sex worker Tracy Wylde to death at her flat in Barmulloch in November 1997.

At the time, cops launched a high-profile hunt for the killer but, after two and a half years, were unsuccessful.

The case was reviewed again in 2013 but this also proved fruitless.

Chen went on to get married and have children while living in Glasgow, setting up a fast food restaurant in Anniesland.

But last summer, Chen was held by cops for an alleged assault in the Cowcaddens area and his DNA matched samples found at the scene of Tracy’s murder at the time.

He was charged with her death and initially denied any involvement in the killing but then pleaded guilty to murder at the High Court in Glasgow last month.

Today he was given a mandatory life sentence and ordered to serve a minimum of 20 years.
