Takeaway staff spat at in racist outburst

Police want to speak to this man after staff were racially abused in a vile attack at a takeaway.

Merseyside Police have released a CCTV photo of a man who they believe could assist with their investigation into two racial assaults.

The first incident took place at around 7pm on April 22, when an unknown man entered a takeaway on North Hill Street in Toxteth.

Once inside the takeaway, the man began being verbally and racially abusive and made threats towards staff.

Meanwhile, at around 6pm on Saturday, May 2, the same man is reported to have returned to the takeaway and made threats towards staff.

During the second assault, the man reportedly spat at staff and used abusive language.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: “This sort of vile behaviour should not be tolerated by anyone in our community.

"This man has been rude, made threats and also spat at staff carrying out their jobs.

"In the current climate where we are all on high alert, this is simply unacceptable.

"We want to speak to this man as we believe he could have crucial information in regards to these incidents. Get in touch if you know him.”
