Takeaway delivery service Uber Eats is launching in Carmarthen

Takeaway delivery service Uber Eats is launching in Carmarthen for the first time, the company has announced.

The food ordering app, which is available in more than 100 towns and cities across the UK, allows people to order a meal of their choice on their phone and get it delivered straight to their door.

Starting on Thursday, March 25, the service is launching in Carmarthen and will allow people to order food from fast-food giants such as McDonald’s and KFC, which are the first restaurants to launch in the area via the Uber Eats app.

Subway has already added itself to the list, and many more restaurants and food outlets are expected to join them in the coming weeks.

People living in the area can therefore download the app on their smartphone and see which local restaurants are offering the service. Customers then just need to enter their location, find which meal they want to order and then track its delivery until it arrives at their front door.

All deliveries made via the app are contactless, and Uber Eats has also introduced measures to help ensure that every delivery driver has access to personal protective equipment.

Carmarthen will join a host of places in Wales, including Cardiff, Swansea and Llanelli, where the Uber Eats app is available to residents.

“We are really excited to be launching in Carmarthen, firstly with McDonald’s and KFC, and a host of local restaurants joining in the coming weeks,” said Toussaint Wattinne, general manager of Uber Eats in the UK.

“We hope to make it even easier for local residents to enjoy a variety of delicious food both comfortably and safely.”

The app is available for use everyday between the hours of 8am and midnight.
